Happy Holidays
It is, as I write this, the afternoon of Christmas Eve 2023. The close of a crazy year.
It is also the time of year of “adding up what I have and what I haven’t”, to quote Irving Berlin (who is the Jewish songwriter of a LOT of your favorite Christmas songs, including “White Christmas”.)
A lot of stuff for me has been going on behind the scenes. I’ve been doing a ton of writing as well as coordinating with various art and editorial teams on my projects. I hope to make some announcements within the new year. I also got two conventions already lined up: Terrificon and Baltimore Comic Con. Yes, even after not having the best time this year, I’m dusting myself off and giving BCC the old college try once more. I’m also excited to return to Terrificon. I was there last year and would have been there this year until a relatively last minute issue made me have to cancel. And both have Jim Lee (one of my favorite artists, if not at the very top) attending next year.
It’s been a big year for me. I got my flagship series into comic shops thanks to Band of Bards (pick up copies HERE). I got to go to the Ringo Awards for an anthology I was in. Rook & Knight had a successful Kickstarter campaign. I had an awesome time at JewCE. I was part of a successful anthology Kickstarter, and part of another currently ongoing (more on that in a bit).
But I won’t lie. I took some blows. R&K fulfillment is behind, though part of that was out of my control. I didn’t do too hot two out of three conventions this year. I have this want/need to get more stuff out there…and I just can’t get it out fast enough. Add to that seeing a rising tide of antisemitism even within the comics community and it’s been…a lot.
But, a new year is dawning. It brings new challenges…and new possibilities. So let’s carpe diem the hell out of it! I can’t tell 100% what I have planned. I do have two Kickstarters planned, but for what is under wraps until we launch the first in the late spring/summer of next year.
But as it is the holiday season, I should point out I’m part of a holiday horror anthology put on by Orange Cone Productions: Holiday Spirits, Vol 3. I teamed up with my Cthulhu Invades Wonderland partner, Damon Horne, to give you a hilariously horrifying Hannukah tale, preview below:
We’re a bit over 60% or so of the way there but we need as much support as we can get! Please support the campaign here.
That’s all for now. Happy Holidays from me to you!
