Hey everyone! Long time no chat!
In case you missed it across my various social media (and I apologize for being late on discussing it here), but I recently launched my latest Kickstarter: Rook & Knight Issue 1!
It is the story of two vigilantes, Rook & Knight, who are not just a hero team but father and son! They’re waging a BRUTAL (and I mean BRUTAL) war on crime, but this once well oiled team is starting to fall apart. While this is definitely a darker street level team book, it’s ultimately a story about family, and the ups and downs we all go through. It also helps to expand the Libertyverse that was founded with American Dreams and expanded somewhat with Knightwrath. It’s also definitely a jump on point for newcomers to my work as it is long time readers.
Here is a bit of a preview:
We got plenty of rewards for your support! Digital copies! Physical copies (with different covers)! Catch up bundles! Commissions!
Plus for the first time, as add ons, we got TRADING CARDS! We’ve revealed two and more to come!
We’re already at 50% (as of this writing) since we launched on June 30th, but we need all the support we can get! Please support the KS here!
Speaking of last Friday, I was at Nickel City Con this past weekend in Buffalo!
It was my first big-ish con of the year, and my first time back in Buffalo since I graduated college in the area a decade ago. It' also gave me an opportunity to hang out with my publishers at BAND OF BARDS as they’re based out there.
Set up was done early on Friday morning, complete with new banner and plenty of books!
Overall, it was my fourth best show, money wise. Friday and Saturday had items sold at a nice clip. In fact, those days beat their respective days at Baltimore Comic Con last year, which is my current best show. Sunday however was VERY slow, sadly.
I think NCC is much more a celeb/merch show than a comics show. There were not many celeb artists and not many fellow comic creators in Artist Alley. It was, unfortunately, the first con I had a theft. Thankfully, it wasn’t an expensive item, but it did put a damper on things.
Will I go back to NCC? Debatable. Depends on if their comic book creator presence improves.
My next show is Baltimore Comic Con, Sept. 8-10! (I had another show before it, but had to cancel it) I hope to have more details about it soon.
Anyways, that’s all from me for now. Once again, please support the Kickstarter!
Thanks again,
DK
Thanks for another great newsletter! The panel layouts in your Rook & Knight preview pages are really cool, I’m looking forward to reading the whole book.
I need to check out NCC myself one year. I'm in Toronto, so it's not a long trip.
