Catching Up On Everything
Who wished us to live in "Interesting Times"?
What a year! Daniel, it’s only February.
Hoo boy, what has happened in a month plus?
Tangerine Tyrant back in office and causing chaos with Muskrat is bad enough. But Diamond going into Chapter 11? That I was NOT expecting.
Needless to say, this throws a LOT of my plans into chaos. Ironically, around the time the news broke re: Diamond, I just submitted Sherlock Holmes: The Phantom Masquerade to a publisher for consideration. This…obviously will possibly (probably) put a crimp on that. But you never know (I haven’t heard back yet so who knows, I could be lucky).
It also puts further American Dreams plans into a bit of a limbo. Don’t worry, I’m looking for a path forward with all my team (hell, arc 2 is fully drawn and two issues are practically ready to go), but we all have to read the tea leaves to figure out what will be our next steps.
But some good stuff is happening though re: AD. Check out this fantastic cover by Fabrice Sapolsky and “Morby”:
Other Projects
In addition, work is continuing as fast as we can for The Time-Lost and Sword of Olympus. Pages are being colored and lettered and covered as fast as we can. I even previewed some of it on social media, which I’ll reshare below. Colorist Tommy Shelton (who regularly colors covers for me) is coloring Sword of Olympus and letterer Buddy Beaudoin is lettering both of them. The idea is I’ll pitch these around OR arrange a Kickstarter for one or both of these in the summer or fall. There is another possibility, which I’ll discuss in a few.
I also have a couple entries in anthologies that I can’t announce yet (because I don’t think they’ve been officially announced outside of the calls for entries). Scripts are in and art is starting for at least one of them.
I also have a MAJOR announcement in a couple of months regarding an anthology I’m helping to run, so stand by for that.
In the meantime, here’s some looks at Time-Lost and Sword of Olympus:
A Major Announcement and Consideration
So, I’m having an internal debate. What I want to know is if you guys would be willing to read either at least the first issue of Time-Lost or Sword of Olympus serialized here first, pre any campaign etc. Here’s the catch though, it will be a perk for PAID subscribers only. Hopefully your support through paid subscriptions will help me and my team produce these comics faster. So I’m going to run a couple polls to test the waters of interest.
Your input and support is highly appreciated as we enter some VERY rough waters in comics and in the US.
That’s all for now, but let me know what you think in the polls!
DK
